Alex De Angelis claimed his first pole position of the year at Phillip Island today.

Stefan Bradl finished in 8th position, but the German rider has a solid chance to regain the Championship lead back from Marc Marquez who starts in last position after being penalised for his crash yesterday with Ratthapak Wilairot in practice.
