Casey Stoner was on fire in Germany to dominate the qualifying session to take his 6th pole position of the season.
Dani Pedrosa took second, and Jorge Lorenzo, who was fastest in this morning’s practice session could only manage a late push for third.
Marco Simoncelli, who has been an early pace-setter did enough to claim 4th position, with Ben Spies, and Andrea Dovizioso rounding out the second row.
There were less crashes in this session when compared to the previous day’s incidents; Karel Abraham crashed at the start and at the end of the qualifying session, and Cal Crutchlow a crashed towards the end of the session, both riders walked away bruised but uninjured.
The bad news keeps getting worse for Valentino Rossi and the Ducati team – Rossi had a poor session and qualified in 16th position, with only Sylvain Guintoli behind him.
