Marco Simoncelli once again set the pace in Free Pratice 2, and was able to hold off a late challenge from Jorge Lorenzo to lead the time-sheets.

Turn 11 at Sachsenring claimed multiple victims in Free Practice 1 (Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa, Toni Elias etc…), and in Free Practice 2 it added Cal Crutchlow to it’s collection of scalps. Hector Barbera also crashed in the session.

Nicky Hayden was the fastest Ducati in 6th position, with team-mate Valentino Rossi finishing in 12th.

Sylvain Guintoli stepped in to replace Loris Capirossi in the Pramac Ducati team and found himself at the back of the timesheets as he starts to re-adjust to MotoGP machinery.
