The Dutch MotoGP at Assen got underway today in damp conditions.

Marco Simoncelli set the pace, with Valentino Rossi getting to grips with a modified Ducati in second place.

Hiroshi Aoyama has moved up the the Repsol Honda team to fill-in for the injured Dani Pedrosa – and speaking of injuries, Cal Crutchlow made a stunning return to racing by taking 6th place in Free Practice (after breaking his collarbone in the Qualifying session at Silverstone)
