Casey Stoner took his first race victory as a Repsol Honda rider in Qatar. Stoner diced with Pedrosa early on, but had the pace to break away and take a comfortable lead.

Jorge Lorenzo had a notable performance in breaking the Honda dominance and taking second position, ahead of Dani Pedrosa in third.
