Wow, this is amazing old video footage that has recently turned up online – it is rare black and white old video footage from Japan of the 1963/1964 Motorbike 50cc World Grand Prix. Japan went on to withdraw from 50cc competition by the end of 1968.

The video is 30 minutes long and is split into two parts.

Suzuki Racing 1960s Part 1:
This video shows some stunning archive footage of the 50cc GP. I love watching those old push starts to races, and it’s quite amazing how close the crowd could get to the action – the concept of a ‘run off’ area like those we see today, was clearly unheard of.

Suzuki Racing 1960s Part 2:
This second clip shows footage that includes video from the Isle of Man TT. Ok, so the bikes don’t go as fast as today, but it is still pretty amazing to watch them on this course with even less safety precautions and hay bales.
