Marco Melandri has been ruled out of the Dutch GP this weekend with a dislocated shoulder. Melandri crashed in the free practice session and was taken to hospital where the full extent of his injury was diagnosed.
Melandri’s absence, means that only 15 bikes will start tomorrow’s Assen MotoGP, which will pile more pressure on Dorna to increase the grid size for future seasons. The next few races will see Valentino Rossi’s replacement start, and with Aoyama’s absense this will mean that 2 riders on the grid will be test riders. Not a place where the premier motorcycle racing class should be really.
