Jorge Lorenzo took his 4th victory in 6 races today at Assen.

In a race not unlike last week’s British GP at Silverstone, Jorge Lorenzo made an immediate break from pole position to stretch a lead out over the rest of the pack.

Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner both managed to find enough rhythm and speed to catch up to Lorenzo for a while, but both riders dropped back during the final 3rd of the race and Lorenzo took victory with a comfortable 3 second lead over Pedrosa. Casey Stoner complained of suffering from arm-pump after the race and claimed that was the reason for him not being able to push harder to pass Pedrosa and take on Lorenzo – something he said he felt his Ducati was capable of.

Ben Spies put in another respectable performance to take 4th position. Ben Spies had a strong start and was holding on to second place for the first few laps, but it was soon clear that Pedrosa and Stoner had more pace and subsequently passed him.

Randy de Puniet and Andrea Dovizioso had a thrilling battle for 5th place, with de Puniet looing like he was pushing his Honda to breaking point over the final few laps whilst he was swapping places with Dovizioso. Dovi eventually got the better of the battle and saved his blushes by getting his factory Honda over the line just in front of de Puniet’s satellite Honda.
