The Day of Champions event that was held at Silverstone on Thursday June 17th raised a massive €185,607 for Riders for Health.
Many of the riders showed up to auction off signed memorabilia and equipment. Aleix Espargaro even auctioned off the shirt he was wearing.
Among the 80 lots on sale were:
• Sets of race leathers from Colin Edwards, Alvaro Bautista, Marco Melandri , and Scott Redding,
• The t-shirt that Aleix Espargaro wore to the stage,
• A painting of Andrea Dovizioso,
• A ‘46’ floor mat from Valentino Rossi’s motor-home and one of the champion’s helmets,
• Boots belonging Hector Barbera and Mika Kallio,
• A replica helmet from Ben Spies ,
• A pair of visors from Dani Pedrosa race helmets,
• A pair of sunglasses belonging to British star, Bradley Smith,
• Hiroshi Aoyama sold three sets of knee sliders,
• One bidder will have a painting of them with championship leader Jorge Lorenzo,
• Gloves brought by Marco Simoncelli and Loris Capirossi,
• Nicky Hayden donated a signed, limited edition, Tissot watch,
• Two pairs of MotoGP wheels from Randy de Puniet’s LCR Honda,
• Artist Gigi Soldano’s artwork of all of the 2010 MotoGP riders,
• Grand prix legend Kevin Schwantz auctioned a pair of jackets,
• Alpine Stars special ‘Silverstone 2010’ boots signed by riders,
