Valentino Rossi claimed pole position for the French MotoGP after a hectic ending to a qualifying session that saw Rossi fighting for pole with Pedrosa and Lorenzo; Hayden and Stoner were also pushing for front row positions.

Lorenzo and Pedrosa claimed 2nd and 3rd place respectively, with both Ducati’s on the second row.
