Jorge Lorenzo made an incredible comeback to fight for a very physical victory over Dani Pedrosa.
Pedrosa took the early lead in the race, closely followed by Valentino Rossi. By contrast, Lorenzo had a subdued start and spent the early part of the race in 4th and 5th position. As the second half of the race progressed and the bike became lighter, Lorenzo started making his way up the field and dueled it out for first place with Pedrosa, both riders forght hard and touched on a number of occasions. Lorenzo eventually pushed Pedrosa wide at Dry Sack and took the lead and the victory.
Ben Spies retired with tyre issues, and Capirossi and Espargaro both suffered crashes.
Mika Kallio had a great race and took 7th place after fighting his way up from the back of the grid.
