Ducati got off to a good start in the practice session at Jerez with both Hayden and Stoner finishing in the top 3. Casey Stoner asserted an early dominance at Jerez setting his fastest time on only his 4th lap. Later on in the session Stoner suffered a fall but was unhurt.
Jorge Lorenzo looked like the only rider who might be able to better Stoner’s time, and by the end of the session he found himself within a 10th of a second frm Stoner’s best time, while his teammate Valentino Rossi ended in 5th position.
Marco Melandri showed considerable improvement and finished just in the top 10, while Hector Barbera was he fastest rookie finishing in an impressive 8th position.
