Valentino Rossi began his Ferrari test this week, with all official press quotes insisting it was “just for fun” and nothing more should be read into it. The test is taking place at Circuit de Catalunya.
The time that Rossi had out on the track was somewhat shortened due to technical issues in the morning, but by the end of the day Rossi had posted a fastest lap of 1’25.6 – as a comparison point, Kimi Raikkonen set a qualifying record of 1’20.7 at the same track in 2008.
Rossi said:
“I’m very happy because it was a good test. We had some problems with the track when it was wet, but in the afternoon on slicks we recorded some good times because the track was drying out.”
