Sports Illustrated recently issued their chart of the top earning sports stars and Valentino Rossi has moved up the rankings from 7th place last year, to joint 5th place in 2009 with projected earnings of $35,000,000. The bulk of Rossi’s wealth is tied up in endorsements and merchandising. You can see a screengrab of the chart below. Despite earning such a huge amount, he is still a long way off what the top US sports-star Tiger Woods is earning, whi is estimate to be banking a mind-boggling $99,737,626.

I would love to see a similar chart of wages, endorsements, and total money earned for the existing MotoGP field of riders.
