Casey Stoner ended Valentino Rossi’s run of victories at Mugello, with The Doctor having to fight hard for a third place finish. Rossi’s teammate Jorge Lorenzo managed to take second place after having a shakey start to the race (including a crash in the warm-up lap before all the bikes were on the grid).

Dani Pedrosa has a flying start to the race, only to slide off after 12 laps aggravating the leg injury that he suffered on Friday.
