The Guardian newspaper has a brief interview with Marco Melandri about the potential options he has open to him if the Kawasaki MotoGP team cannot be rescued for 2009 – and it seems that Melandri is considering a year off if he cannot get a ride secured in the MotoGP championship, or if the Kawasaki Racing team cannot find a buyer.
Melandri said he hoped for a decision on a possible sale on Wednesday, but added:
“It wouldn’t be great but … to stop for a year would not be a hugh problem,” he told reporters late on Monday. I’m waiting. I hope the date is not put back because it is better to know for sure that you won’t be racing, rather than carrying on with uncertainty”.
