Ichiro Yoda, Kawasaki’s Director of Racing talked to Motosprint magazine and in a brutally honest assement of the 2008 season and his hopes for 2009, said that if results didn’t improve he expected to be sacked.
He told motosprint magazine:
“It’s clear that we’ll have to do a lot better next year. There is great pressure on us, we have been told we must get results. The message comes from the boss at Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Tamba.
“The pressure on me is enormous and perhaps my next chance will be the last for my work. If we don’t get the result, I will probably lose my position.”
Kawasaki finished in last place in 2008, and riders Ant West and John Hopkins rarely finished in the Top 10. With John Hopkins regulary getting injured (or drunk), and Marco Melandri just starting his first season on the Kawasaki, Yoda better start working on his CV.
