YAKINTHIA FESTIVAL IN ANOGIA CRETE GREECE
"Ways of the Moon"
Anogia, Crete, 3rd - 6th July 2002, under the auspices of the municipality of Anogia

INTRODUCTIONAL REMARKS

The moon prepares for her full moon circle. When she came that evening, the night was wearing her royal blue, the stars stepped back and the princess of the nightly sky started ascending the dome. When she reached the top, she saw a deep fountain. She stopped, looked down into the mirror and asked:
- How, my fountain, do you manage to always have such a clear face?
- I always tell the truth..
May I ask you a question, if you don't mind?
There are so many skies, why do you always take the same way?
-You won'y believe it, I still don't know the way.
Greetings to the rain and bon voyage, my dear moon!
THE VISIT OF HIS HOLINESS ECUMENICAL PATRIARCH BARTHOLOMEW IN ANOGIA
"When I shall come to visit Crete we shall visit together the chapel of St. Yakinthos", His Holiness told us in November 2001, when we visited him in Fanari.
We talked about Anogia, the habits in the village, its destruction by the Germans and the famous dirge of its women. We talked about the Gegresena, who in 1945, when the epitaph passed her house, stood on her balkony wearing black clothes, expecting her 5th child, and lamented like a Madonna for Christ:
"I don't have attar of roses for you Christ, to sprinkle you with attar of roses, Mylord, my catastropher has not yet come, My Joy, to bring attar of roses, My Love."
"I listen to your dirges and weep", the patriarch told us and asked Loudovikos to sing a dirge for a company, who had gathered there for lunch. And so it happened.
The next evening at the inauguration of an exhibition of photographs for the 10th anniversary of his patriarchal rule, he said us goodbye and promised again to visit Anogia and the chapel of St. Yakinthos.

THE ART OF LAUGHING
AT THE "NIKOS XYLOURIS" AMPHITHEATER, 21:30 h

"A day without laughing is a lost day!" said Aristoteles ...of Giorgalis.
ETSI DE
It is summer, the heat is rising, beware of the heat and look for an oasis of cool freshness; the stress of the "everyday" is pushing you and you are looking for a way out; you have just been left or divorced and are looking for a shoulder to weep out your pain; your favorite soccer team has just been sent home from the world championship and you have nobody to talk with about your anger; so are so bored and are looking for some sensation to change your life; you are tired of the "maybe's" and "about's" and are demanding clear and straight answers to questions, which are keeping you busy;
NO PROBLEM! DO NOT FEAR AND DON'T DESPAIR!
The ETSI DE are coming to the Yakinthia festival 2002 with a snobbish attitude and the nagging commentaries of actor Renos Charalampidis.

The ETSI DE consist of Giannis, Dimitris and Michalis.

An elderly woman said to her sick husband:
"Vassili, if one of us dies, I'll take the children to Athens..."

Funny stories are a part of our seriousness. The teach, ironize and normally allow heavy critic without insults.

…An evening with topic stories told by the masters of laughing.
Narratation by: Dimitris Fasoulas (Mitsoflas), Babis Cheretis (Vourgias), Giorgos Vitoros and Manolis Cheretis (Pagouris)
Entrance tickets 5 €.
