YAKINTHIA FESTIVAL IN ANOGIA CRETE GREECE


The first Yakinthia festival was devoted to the memory of Manos Hatzidakis and his "Great Cycle of Love Songs". He loved Anogia and one of his dreams was to make this village a center of arts.

On initiative of the assistant professor at the College for Architecture and Graphic Arts Michalis Manousakis, modern Greek sculptors exhibited their works during the festival in Anogia.

There was also an exhibition of photographs by the well known photographer Giorgos Petrakis with topic "The Cretan Mitato" and an exhibition of mouth blown glass objects from the workshop of Natasha and Marios Halkiadakis with 
Yakinthos as topic.

The author Maro Vamvounaki presented her new book for the first time at the YAKINTHIA festival.
On Saturday July 4th at the natural amphitheater A. Yakinthos, singer - songwriters from Crete (Psarantonis, Hainides, Loudovikos from Anogia, Oktava and Aristidis Heretis), from northern Greece (Thanassis Papakonstantinou, Thanassis Gaiphilias, Lizetta Kalimeri and the famous protagonist of Greek Rebetika music Mario), from Athens (Christos Tsiamoulis, Kostas Kaldaras, Vangelis Germanos and the group Sinithis Ypopti), from Cyprus (Alkinoos Ioannidis) and Cretan Mantinades singers performed their love songs.

Angeliki Kontaridou, disciple of Andronikos, head of the archaeological site of Vergina read a text with the title "Love in the Light, Love in the Shadow, Pictures of the Goddess in the Antique Myth".

For our little friends and visitors Manolis Grammatikakis presented his Batman car, which he built for one year by hand in his workshop on basis of a "Pony" car after the original from the movie, an invitation for a fantasy journey.
